                                                Tree of Life

                     (Deacons and Beehives)

This turned out to be a fun activity for our youth.  We prepared one 9 x 13 and one round cake for each group.  We had various toppings that they could use (example, white icing and provided food coloring for their use, crushed oreo’s and crushed vanilla wafers, licorice, M & Ms, pretzel sticks, teddy grahams, goldfish, etc). The rules were: 1) They had to decorate their cake to represent a parable in the scriptures or a bible story. 2) They had to find a scripture to share that talked about their parable/bible story. 3) They had to prepare a short skit or sing a song that incorporated their parable/bible story and each member of their team had to participate in some way.

All the youth participated and seemed like they were having a really great time. Yes, even the boys! These kids are very competitive.  The winner of the Parable of the Iron Chef was……….. “Moses parting the Red Sea” by the Mia Maids and Teachers. 2nd Place for the skit/song was from the Priests and Laurels (they turned it into a rap primary song).  3rd Place was given to the Beehives and Deacons for their details in the scripture they used. At the end  of the night we told them they could choose the cake they wanted to eat a piece from and we provided milk and water to complete our evening.  It was a fun night for everyone.

I knew the idea was a good one when you told me what your plans were going to be, however, I had no idea how FUN it would be. Great job, Dana. I know the Youth in your ward must just love you to bits. You are a wonderful leader and example for them.

Love and Miss you!!!
