My Grandmother
On Saturday, we layed to rest my sweet grandmother. She slipped away on September 21 ,during the night. The doctors had called in hospice on Sunday , Sept 19. The family was told that she might pass within two weeks. Mother and I made plans to go and see her on Monday. Plans changed because they were supposed to be doing a lot of testing on grandmother on Monday. So, we rescheduled our visit until Tuesday. Needless to say, we never made that last visit. No one thought that she would pass that quickly. I’m so thankful that she went so quickly and didn’t have to suffer or starve herself to death.
Her funeral and graveside service was very nice. Her preacher did a fantastic job honoring grandmother. She would have been very proud.
We will always have a special place in our hearts for our sweet grandmother. We all knew that she loved us and prayed for each of us. It’s hard saying goodbye to such a sweet woman, but we will just say until we meet again. I will always love you, grandmother.

What a wonderful tribute, Dana. I love you!
I agree with Charlotte, it is a loving tribute. It's so important that we take the small opportunities given to express our love for one another. We never know when a kind word or an acknowledgement of love and tenderness might be the last words spoken. I hate it that mother wasn't able to have a final goodbye...but maybe it's not necessary. They had a wonderful relationship and goodbye's weren't necessary. They loved each other and had a special bond that didn't require last minutes words of love. They lived a full life taking advantage to show one another through words and actions how they felt toward one another.
I like to think that we each have that type of relationship with one another.
I love you girls!!
