This weekend we worked in our yard. Michael hired a man to trim our trees for us. We are trying to let more sun reach our grass so it will grow. Michael has had us putting mulch around each tree, mowing and burning limbs along with working in our flower beds. Abbie was right there with us the whole time. Her brother worked out there for a little bit. I guess he is making progress. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer weekend to spend outside.
Michael finally got a new recliner. He has been needing one for awhile. On our way home from Dallas last weekend, we stopped by “The Dump”. I have heard great things about this store. I wanted to check it out for myself and see what they had. We ended up buying a recliner and going back this weekend to pick it up.
This was not the recliner we bought originally. They misplaced or sold our recliner. Yes, this was upsetting. However, I happened to be looking around the store while they were searching for our order. I stumbled upon this chair and I liked it immediately. It’s chocolate brown. I know in this picture it looks almost black. It’s comfy, but Michael is still a little peeved about the whole situation. He had his heart set on the other one. I really wasn’t crazy about the one he chose. His was the color he wanted (burgundy) and the foot rest closed (went down) with no effort. This one is a different color and the foot rest is harder to close. Oh well. It’s so nice to be in a recliner that doesn’t squeak or have holes and rips on it. I’m pleased.
The ward needed a Mother’s Day gift pretty quickly. Days earlier I had noticed this idea here . (I love this girl’s blog!!). When the bishop called on Thursday panicked that the bishopric had forgotten to order something for all the women in the ward (85 to be exact). I immediately thought about making these. His wife and I went to work and got most of them done on Friday morning. However, the project seemed fairly easy, it took some muscles doing eighty- five. It was a pleasure getting to visit with his wife and do something special for all the women in the ward.
The best part that I’m leaving out is when I locked my key’s in my car at Wal-Mart on Friday morning. Yep, I sure did. I haven’t done this little stunt in years. I quickly ran to the service desk and explained my delimma. Would you believe that the lady at the service desk told me that I could use the pay phone over on the wall but it was against store policy to let the public use their phones. HELLO…….My purse (money)and keys were locked in my car. She just smiled and said she couldn’t help me. Thank heavens a lady standing by me overheard the conversation and took pity on me. She told me that I could use her cell phone. I quickly called Michael for help. I was never so happy to see him drive up and rescue me. He is my hero!!! Love you, babe.
