A pair of glasses

                                          Tortoiseshell glasses

For months, we have been looking for glasses like these for Abbie’s AG doll.  This child has been asking for these glasses forever. Grandma called last week and said that she had found some at Michael’s (Yeah~much cheaper).  She called and asked if she should get them for Abbie.  I quickly told her Y.E.S!!  When we were at The American Girl store a few weeks ago, this was one of the items that she wanted so badly.  Wouldn’t you know they had this item backordered.  Abbie was devasted, to say the least.  We told her that they would come back in stock and would we get them for her then.
Yesterday while I was in La, mother sent the glasses home with me to give to Abbie.  She and Abbie had already talked about this. She knew that I was bringing them home with me.  So, I picked Abbie up from school and she wants to see the glasses.  She wanted to hold them in her little hands.  As usual, we had errands to run and it was a few hours before we got home.  Abbie immediately disappears.  I started getting dinner prepared and I feel these eyes looking at me over the bar.  I looked and Abbie had big tears running down her face.  I thought that something bad had happened to her.  I started to ask all kinds of questions.  All she could say was “They make her look ugly!!”. I had forgotten all about the glasses. I asked more questions.  She had in her mind the way her doll would look in these glasses and she didn’t like what she was seeing.  Poor child, was heart broken.  I mean she was balling and very upset.  I ran around to give her a hug and she just clung to me.  She was so distraught over the way these glasses looked on her doll.  She had gotten herself so upset she started itching with her eczema and had to go to bed and just rest.  It was the funniest thing (not the eczema episode).  Michael and I were trying to not laugh at her.  Mother, had also gotten a pair of sun glasses for her doll as well.  Abbie seemed to like these but her heart was set on the tortoiseshell.  Oh, the DRAMA around this place.    AG glasses 006
Later that evening, Abbie whispered in my ears that “The brown glasses were just for reading at home. Her doll couldn’t wear them outside.” Can you believe this child?  This is so typical of her. I had to share it.

Dana,

This totally cracked me up. I have seriously been laughing about it. You are going to have to back this post up for future generations. This is too good not to rib Abbie for when she has her own daughters!
