On our way to Colorado we drove through this town and happened to catch a picture of the scorching temperatures. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This has been one extremely hot summer.
Cadillac Ranch
Amarillo, TX
Yes, we did!! We stopped for the night in Amarillo, TX. And had to seize on the opportunity to take our cans of spray paint and put our artistic abilities to work. Everyone got into it……..including Michael.

PROOF
That Michael’s infamous YETI cooler actually worked!!! When we arrived this is what it looked like inside. Keep in mind, it road in the back of his truck baking in the sun the whole time. Before we left for Colorado, we bought about 2lbs of dry ice and filled the rest of the cooler with our food and ice. When we arrived the food was frozen solid and Michael had to take a wrench and try to break the ice because it was frozen solid. AMAZING!!!

LODGING
Michael did his research and found this house for us to stay in for the week. Everyone enjoyed the location with the different wildlife that would come and visit us daily.
Like these guys, antelope and more.
It was nice to have dinner on the deck and enjoy the coolness of the fresh air.
Here is a tour of the inside of the house
Needless to say, there was plenty of room and very comfortable.

The first day after arriving in Colorado. We made a trip up to Creede. It’s and old town full of history. It’s most known for mining.
Underground Fire Station
The Train ride from Durango to Silverton
Rafting in Durango on the Animas River
Survived!!
Had to take a shot with our guide. He was a trooper.
It’s a lot of work.

MEMORIAL SITE
Each chair has each victims name on it (the glass bottoms light up at night). Big chairs for adults and little ones for children. Each chair is on a row representing the floor of the building where they died.
Last stop was University of OK
We all were tuckered out by the time we arrived home on Friday evening. It’s nice being home and sleeping in your own bed but we had a great time making memories with the family. Looking forward to doing it again.
