Who would have thought…

Random 026

Last week in YW’s, the girl’s were reminded about the food pyramid and how important eating well balanced meals are for them. We ended the evening with having each girl make her own conversation jar.  The inside was filled with questions to be asked during family dinner.  You could ask one question and go around the table and  have each member of the family answer it.  On Sunday, I had Abbie help me cut out our questions and fill our jar.  Last night when we sat down for dinner, (minus Abbie….she was at her friend’s house) I explained that we were going to start doing this each night and that tonight I would draw the first question.  The question was “What’s the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?” Austin’s eyes lit up and I could tell he was enjoying listening to my response and his daddy’s. We progressed with our dinner and Austin asked if we could choose another question. Of course, I said yes!! I was tickled pink that he seemed to like this conversation jar. Before dinner was over, Austin was on his third question.  He LOVED this activity!! The rest of the evening, he kept referring back to our answers.  I quickly learned that I needed this little conversation starter a long time ago to get that boy to talk or be a part of our conversations.  The last question that was asked was “What do you like best and least about your life? Austin’s “best” answer was the church.  SCORE!!!! That answer made me so proud.  He was the first to answer this question so he wasn’t prompted at all.  Ahhhhhh, what a way to make your momma happy!!!! I went to bed feeling very happy and excited that maybe there is hope for him.  LOL!!!
