Turkey Trot

Basketball #2 game 001-1

Pretty boring shirts!!!

Abbie was thrilled to see she had a number tag that she would be able to wear.  She told me she wanted the smaller number. LOL!!!

We had just arrived and it was in the 40’s. It was foggy, misting, and cold. We didn’t let that stop us from our race.

Here is the gang!! I was so happy that Donella and her kids, Cami and McKay entered with us.

Family 182

They had the kids 6-11 yrs line up for their kids race.  They were to run twice around the building.  Abbie, ran one time and when she came around and saw her daddy she broke into tears. =( She got to winded and gave up! Hey, at least she tried.

Finished…..Woohoo!!!!

I ran it in 29-30 minutes!!! I beat my time that I run on the treadmill everyday. Usually on the treadmill I can do 3.1 miles in 31 minutes (nothing great, I know).   I couldn’t believe how running with other’s really helps inspire me.  At one point during the race, I looked around and thought to myself  “Look girl, you are doing it!! You are running and keeping up with all these athletic guys and girls.” It was a turning point for me.  It got my adrenalin going and I kept on running. There was a time that I would have NEVER seen myself running a 5K . It’s been a slow process.   I’m so dang proud that this is my second 5K. I have been so surprised at watching the other runner’s. It’s not about being first across the finish line. It is about ENDURING!!! I saw a man finish the race yesterday and I swear the man had to be in his late 80’s. That is incredible!!!  Family 197

They did it!!!!

After the kids race, I was nervous that Abbie wouldn’t want to do the 5K. Donella, had hurt her achilles tendon earlier in the week. However, she was determined to accomplish this goal she had set for herself. She is just AWESOME!!! She walked it with her daughter, Cami and my Abbie. Here they are on home stretch.

The GANG!!

Donella’s son, McKay runs track and he finished the race in 25min!! We all had a great time and hopefully have started a new tradition.  I loved seeing families out there. Michael, was in attendance and  was a trooper. He was our biggest cheerleader and our photographer. Thanks, sweetheart!!
