I stumbled across this activity HERE on Tuesday. They looked so cute and like something the girls would enjoy doing as well. Of course with everything else I do, it became a bigger project than what I had expected. My first dilemma was trying to cut these paint sticks myself. I thought that maybe Lowe’s would cut them for me. Unfortunately, their saw couldn’t cut them. They were too small for their machine. So, I thought that I would just buy a small electric saw (what was I thinking?). Got home with my new saw and realized I didn’t know how to put the dang thing together. I had to insert the blade and figure out how to use it. Bad thoughts kept racing through my mind that I was going to cut a finger off or my hand. I was getting an uneasy feeling and I was running low on time. I ended up just getting Michael’s hand saw and about 1 1/2 hrs later I had about thirteen small blocks. Now I just needed to drill holes and paint each block. Things started to move faster after these steps.
I started off our evening sharing with the girls the Symbols of Christmas. Charlotte, shared this site with me. You can find it HERE. I really loved the way this story was taken from Santa’s perspective. Of course, I needed to find all the small items and find a small Christmas tree to tell the story. I found everything I needed at Michael’s (the store).
While there, I found this cute felt bag. Isn’t it cute? My kids noticed this bag in the kitchen yesterday while I was trying to get prepared for YW’s Act night . Abbie said “Mom, who’s bag is this? Did Santa bring it?” LOL!!! I might just have to put some gifts for her in it and leave it under the tree on Christmas morning.
Abbie, also found her gingerbread ornaments that I made a few years ago. She is wanting to make more this year. I’m thinking we will work on this project this evening. She loves projects!! I will post pictures of them soon.
