What a great little getaway Michael and I had!! Michael had a conference in Galveston and I was able to tag along with him. Yippee!! Knowing the whole trip was completely paid for by his employer, I took full advantage. Michael’s mom came and stayed with the kids and that was extremely nice of her. She kept them busy the whole time. It was really nice to just be with Michael with no fighting, interruptions, etc. We could just do whatever WE wanted. I did plenty of shopping with no complaints from Michael. He wanted me to do whatever I wanted. Once we got to Galveston, we checked into our Hotel and headed out to dinner. We ate on the seawall strip (the scenery was awesome). After dinner, we took a ferry ride across to the part of Galveston that was hit by hurricane “Ike”. The ferry ride was so cool. They packed over sixty cars, trucks, motorhomes and eighteen wheelers on this boat. In the middle of our ride we had to stop due to a large barge needing to cross. This ferry was flying in the water. It was a cool experience (thanks, Charlotte for the tip). The next day Michael had meetings most of the day. So of course, what’s a girl to do? SHOP!!! That evening, we headed back toward Houston to eat Mexican at “Pappasitas” (our favorite Mexican place of all times). The next day, Michael and I went exploring and drove toward Freeport. The futher away we got out of Galveston, the water started to turn prettier. It seemed to have a cleaner, nicer feel about it. We happened to pass SilverLeaf Seaside Resort (Sharon’s time share). She is wanting Michael’s siblings and families to go back there in June. The kids are thrilled and itching to go to Galveston. After seeing our pictures of the cruise ships, they are excited about seeing them too. Finally, Sunday morning we went down to the port and saw two very large cruise ships. It was soooooo AWESOME!!! I swear that was the highlight of my trip. I told Michael we had to go on cruise. He didn’t say “No”, so maybe he secretly would like to as well. Fingers are crossed. Overall this was a great trip to relax and getaway and be together with my sweetheart.
